You can throw a blanket over a couple of chairs for a child and they are enthralled.
It's magic, womb-like, seclusion, privacy, exotic, protection, secrets, otherworldly, luxury, romantic, fun, escapist....
The tent may be in your house or in an ordinary backyard, but inside, you can be anywhere... perhaps... anyone....

Ok yes, now I must have a tent, just like...um, all of them.
ReplyDeleteA wild, magical post :)
ReplyDeleteI miss camping in the great outdoors. These days, all people want to do when camping is sit around a fire and drink or ride motorbikes. I just want to relax and bask in the beauty of nature.
One time, when camping, I encountered numerous fireflies in the rainforest :)
Love these tents. I have the second image from bottom in my book of inspiration
Oh, how I love tents! It's such a sensory experience. The romance of being enclosed in a confined space and the mystery of not knowing what may be in your company on the outside.
ReplyDeleteHave a magical weekend, Monica!
absolutely. a personal skin of sorts, as though we are allowed a larger and ethereal shell in this world. we feel lighter in tents. and somehow special. beautiful marriage of images to sentiments.

Absolutely fantastic! HOW ROMANTIC!!!
ReplyDeleteNot what my weekend will be filled with since my hub is going to NY but I will enjoy the river, dinners and a day at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
You are so right about the "magical" allure of a tent to a child. I can remember spending hours in the backyard under the "tent" my mom constructed using two lawn chairs and a large bedspread.
ReplyDeleteLove these pictures :)
These tents are incredible! I would definitely give camping a try if I had one of these magical spaces.
ReplyDeleteTents are really beautiful and seductive! Loved your post and the beautiful pictures! Hope your weekend is magical too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a magical visual treat, and awakening of childhood memories, thank you,
ReplyDeleteSue x
Oh I love these. Even though my tent is far more utilitarian than any of these, I am sooo looking forward to my week-long solo camping/Ayurveda retreat this summer and falling asleep to the sound of cicadas...
ReplyDeletei love camping, and i think i would live full time in these tents.. x
ReplyDeleteLovelovelove this post. I think I need to build myself a tent around my bed.
ReplyDeleteRegarding my post, it was spiced chai oatmeal, by Better Oats (http://www.betteroats.com). DElicious. <3 :)
Gorgeous pictures of tents! Especially the gauzy one, with the girl sitting inside, with lights. So magical.
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love these, so beautiful! I've been building tents and forts since I was a kid and still do now at 31!! I want a teepee in the back yard more than anything! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeletetotally orgasmic!
ReplyDeleteTents are really utterly romantic. And I love how they somehow make you feel like a child again. One day, I'm going to have a backyard with some perfect place for a tent, and I think I may reserve it for dreaming.
ReplyDeletei am so in love with the bohemian-style tents!!! these images are so pretty :) have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteSeeing your piece this morning has injected a little bit of magic into my weekend. Tents are enveloping. They provide a sense of the microcosm within the macrocosm. They offer both security and a hint of adventure. I'm beginning to feel emotions I haven't felt for many years! The images are quite stunning.
ReplyDeleteI think this is the most beautiful and even profound blog post I have ever seen!!
oh my goooooood, this is amazing :)
ReplyDeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous collection of photos...They make me feel lightheaded, serene...
A must do for the hot summer nights to come...

I love these - they're almost magical. Romantic and lovely :)
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely post - yes -- tents are womblike. as a child i loved to throw a sheet over the dining room table and felt like i had created my very own castle.
ReplyDeletethese make me want to curl up and listen to the bees and birds and lawnmowers and children playing outside. lovely post.
ReplyDelete:)tents! hehe blissful just looking at these images..all of them. the last pic..we've been chatting recently about building something just like it..a wee bit longer..along our back wall, would have to get rid of a couple of pieces of furniture..but, oh would be so worth it! am drooling again ha.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love!!!
ReplyDeleteThere is something so nurturing and magical about tents. I have a dormered space in my house that I'm planning to drape with fabric to create my own indoor tent. Love these images.

STUNNING!! Please Help! Been searching for day's for just the right way to create my 16 yr. old son's room. He would absolutely love this. I plan on using lots of sheer panels and fabric but have no idea how to drape them from the ceiling without looking too girlie :\ I thought maybe boxspring & mattress on floor, and doing something like in photo #6 using a hoola hoop and drapeing the sheer panels over the sides of the bed?? And how about colors? Can I use whatever colors for a boy? Any advise would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much
a hoola hoop is one of the easiest yet proper installation. google 'hula hoop tent' for instructions.
Deletei would go for landscape colours (earthy, low saturation) - forest green, deep blue, brown....or a mix of blues.
